We have to mega love our designs because they take (what feels like) a lifetime to create and develop. So if it was all over in just one season we would never survive in this fashion industry. 

Every time we create something new it requires so much time and patience from our team to physically manifest the design - and it would feel and be a complete waste of resources to just move on to the next immediately.

The Flower Dream Bag took a year and a half to sample combining three different craft techniques. Our dream (hence the name) was to create a round shaped bag in beads with flowers.

Making a round shaped bottom that would fit perfectly with the amounts of beads woven into the side panels (that also had to have integrated straps) honestly felt like a stupid and impossible idea in the process :) But we did not give up and Bernabela was persistent in counting beads, adjusting the bottom multiple times, coming up with ideas on how to create integrated strap holes and so on and so on. You get the idea! 

After a year and a half, we succeeded! And we loved it! It has been a staple piece and shape with us ever since, allowing us to play around with colorways, patterns and special editions for our retail partners.

But the process does not end there.. Because once we succeed with a design comes the next part of the process - which is keeping up with the right quality and look every single time we make it. And that is where the cultivated talent and skills of our team is the essential part of this success. Every time you warp the loom and start your ascent of mounting 55’500 tiny glass beads into a complete weaving you need to be made of talent and indescribable patience to make it just right every time. And it has to be just right every time because our retail partners and community expect good quality and aesthetics every time - especially at the price point we are at. 

We have made lots of bags in really bad quality that would never pass the bar but they all taught us how to improve the work process and make sure that we can deliver on our promise of combining paying living wages with the reward of a unique high quality product. 

So you see - when we finally nail the design, the quality and the price we have to roll with that design for years because it took us years to create it in the first place. We really have to have a long lasting love for the designs we put out into the world - luckily we do <3
