We are a female led, owned and self-funded social business — so this feels a lot like a day we need to celebrate.
We wanted to create a business working for the empowerment of Mayan women through craft. A loooot of water has run under the bridge since (2018 😮💨) while we've tried to navigate a rapidly changing world where providing a stable income (and most importantly a safe and blossoming work environment) for our team requires the regular mundane operations of a company.
Sometimes it gets lost in our communication just how important it is to us what we do. Of course, it’s great to make designs that you love and cherish, but this is not why we are in business. We are in business because of the women in our team — and to acknowledge the talent and worth internationally, in order to create a funnel of income to prosper and get ahead in life.
We are working hard behind the scenes to put our work and impact into frames we can understand and hold ourselves accountable to. This year we are bringing back a lot more Guate-love <333 in all forms of our business, so that in the midst of having become a brand, we don’t forget why it matters on a more profound level.
So, thank you to all the amazing women that make up our team and who work so hard every day for themselves and each other <33333
Women are truly so resilient and strong ❤️
